Anastasia Patience of Fuzzface, a.k.a. Wit came into my life a beautiful white 10 week old ball of fluff with gorgeous piercing amber eyes. I would just stare at how beautiful she was. At 18 years old, I never imagined she would live to see me through business school, many of life’s changes, singlehood, heartbreaks, marriage and the addition of my four children including the birth of my first son. Twenty years flew by like nothing. She was gorgeous, regal, wicked at times and breathtakingly faithful.

Towards the end of her life, she saw the pain in my tears and would not go until on the last day I didn’t cry at all. For days, I carried her through the house like a baby and my daughter (age 3) followed us with her stuffed kitty. As the afternoon closed, on her last sunset, I looked happily into her big beautiful amber eyes and told her I would be ok, it was time for her to play with Samson, Freddie, Molly and Polly her furbrothers and sisters. She left me the way she came to me; in my arms.

Even though life must go on, my heart will forever ache for her and be etched with her beautiful purr. It was the lullaby that put me to sleep during the lowest and highest points in my life. Words can’t express the depth of gratitude I feel towards the soul that held out until she finally knew that her mommy would be ok.

She was the matriarch of our home. I miss you my beautiful darling. There will never be another like you. I know God will unite us again. Until then, Love your mamma.
