Obituary for Raven Tennyson

Raven Tennyson
Raven Tennyson

Born on May 14, 1983 in Martinsville, Illinois. Your registered name was Punkie's Promise, but I called you "Raven."

Born to a life of hard work and stress, you spent many years of your life as a working trotter making five owners money, but, when your working days were over, and you were no longer needed, you were put up for auction for the killers to buy. I thank God that I was there to buy you. You had been starved and mistreated for the last time. Those other owners were unable to break your spirit and your ability to trust humans again.

On May 3, 2004, only a month after the death of your stablemate, "Stormy," I was diagnosed with Cancer. You helped me with the loss of Stormy and gave me a reason to get well during the chemo and radiation treatments.

This gentle soul loved to give kisses for carrots and apples and loved her stablemate, "Stormy." I would sprinkle Holy Water on you each time that I was with you and ask God to bless and watch over you. You knew how much you were loved by me.

I thank God that, when I got the call to come to the barn as soon as possible, I made it there in time. The greatest gift of love that I could give you was to let you go, knowing that I would be the one who held your head and closed your eyes on your journey to Heaven. You are now resting in peace next to "Stormy."

"Raven," my beautiful, big, black horse, was part of my life for 20 1/2 years of her 26 1/2 years of life.

Raven passed away peacefully on December 8, 2009.

My "Raven," you took a piece of my heart when you died, but you are forever loved and remembered. I know that I will be with you when I pass through the Rainbow Bridge, never to be separated again.

Loved for eternity by your grateful owner, Kathleen Tennyson.
